G[c] Gallery Intern Overview

The G[c] Gallery Intern position offers the right candidate hands-on experience in arts administration, marketing, special event planning, art research, grant writing and artist relations.

The G[c] Gallery Intern and G[c] Director will work together to create a schedule of actions based on the successful candidate’s interests, desired areas of growth, strengths and best practices.

Under the supervision of the G[c] Director, the Gallery Intern will perform day-to-day tasks which support the operations of the exhibition space and specific projects related to administration, development, communications and event production.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-maintain the Gc exhibition space.

-communicate the Gc mission to gallery visitors, succinctly contextualize and explain artwork with regard to artistic process, media, and style.

-social media communications, Artist updates on FB, Twitter, Pinterest.

-maintain digital records, database, etc.

-research grant-making organizations and potential donors.

-assist planning and production of special events.

Ideal Candidate:

-strong attention to detail, excellent writing skills, good organizational skills & discretion working with confidential data.

-interest in the visual arts, arts administration, or gallery management.

-interest in fundraising/marketing/PR.

-familiarity with major social media sites, graphics, word processing and spreadsheet applications.

-ability to complete short projects independently with attention to detail.

Duration of Intern Cycle:

Each G[c] Gallery Intern cycle is 3 months minimum, 6 months maximum.

8 – 15 Hours per week (12-5pm 2 or 3 days a week, flexible schedule. not to exceed 15 hours in one week.)
